While Pinterest blew up a couple of months ago with people looking for ideas on how to improve, or of course ruin their perfectly nice iPhone’s home screen, the biggest reason I didn’t customise my icons at the time was because of the super cluncky “Click, wait, see shortcuts, finally get to app” process.

Of course, the shortcuts app wasn’t built for replacing icons, but in the new iOS Beta, the app will open much faster with just a shortcuts banner appearing briefly at the top of the screen. Much better.

Apple Cuts developer tax by half for 98% of devs.

Apple has announced from January that its developers making less than $1million a year from the App Store will only pay 15%, rather than the 30% that was the case previously.

Of course, Epic games and Spotify are still sad, because now what the call the Apple Tax is actually like a tax, as the highest earners pay more. You can’t please some people.

Yes you can run windows games and Apps on Apple Silicon.
Codeweavers have announced Crossover 20 which allows Windows programs to run on Mac OS including on Apple Silicon without needing an installation of Windows. It also works more like Rosetta 2, not as emulation but a translation, turining windows commands into Mac commands, based on the open source Wine project.

As you can see from this gameplay footage, its not perfect but remember this is within a week of Apple Silicon arriving, on the lowest power, cheapest MacBook that Apple sells right now running through a couple of different translation layers. Without a fan. Okay.

#icaveanswers I had the second gen iPad Air, and as all Apple products after a few years (same with every iPad and iPhone I had) it started slowing down, from playing games with no issues to struggling with opening Tik tok or google classroom. When every iPhone and iPad came out they had no issues but after a couple of years they all start to over heat. Should I get a pro to future proof myself or should I get the air since it’s cheaper? I’m really on the fence here.
